I Left the City for Five Years. What I Found Changed Everything.

Five years ago, I stepped away from city life.

I didn’t know it at the time, but I was walking away from more than just the skyline and the noise. I was walking away from a nervous system stretched so thin, I’d forgotten what it meant to feel safe in my own body.

Returning to Vancouver recently was like stepping into a time warp, one that moves faster, flashes brighter, and hums with a constant sense of urgency. Everything is louder. Shinier. More intense.

And now, they’re selling calm in a bottle like it’s the newest luxury, packaged wellness, mass-produced remedies, and “relaxation” routines that still rely on hustle.

It’s jarring. But the wildest part?

I didn’t even realize how burnt out I was when I was living here.

Because when you’re in it, when your system is wired for survival, pressure, and pushing, it just feels normal. It’s only when you stop, truly stop, that you realize how far off-center you were.

I was in chronic fight-or-flight for 15 years straight.

No wonder I was angry all the time.

No wonder I had no patience.

No wonder kindness felt like such a stretch some days.

I had lost touch with what my body had been trying to tell me all along: Slow down.

But how could I?

I had bills to pay. Deadlines to meet. And I was addicted to “success”, to making money, acquiring status, and stacking assets like a serious drug habit. The high of ownership, productivity, and praise felt safer than the unknown of stillness.

At what cost?

Let me tell you:

Failed relationships.

Feeling chronically misunderstood.

No real deep connection.

No time to enjoy without booze to keep my energy lifted.

No space to be joyful.

No room to be fully expressed without fear of offending someone, or betraying my own values.

I thought I was in integrity. But I had no clue how far I had drifted from my own center

and if this all sounds like you... I get it.

And if you even recognize yourself in this, that’s f*cking fantastic!

Because awareness is the turning point, and once you see it, there’s something you can do about it.

I reprogrammed my nervous system to run on breath, not burnout.

It took over a year to slow down enough to feel comfortable in my skin again. A year to soften into a new rhythm. A year to learn that stillness is not laziness, it’s wisdom.

And now that I’ve felt it? You couldn’t pay me enough to speed back up.

This experience has reminded me how deeply we’ve normalized overextension, especially in cities and in spaces where success is defined by output. We’re taught to go faster, do more, squeeze it all in.

But that’s not where alignment lives.

If you’ve ever felt out of sync with the world around you...

If you’ve been pushing hard in a pace that never felt quite right...If your body has been whispering “slow down” but your environment keeps saying “go faster”...

You’re not broken. You’re waking up!

You’re remembering.

There’s another way to live.

One that honours your breath.

One that listens to your nervous system.

One that allows your body to feel safe, not just functional.

That’s the rhythm I’ve come home to and I’m not going back.

One of the most profound tools that supported my shift was Breathwave

A conscious connected breathing practice that gently retrains the nervous system to feel safe in stillness. The Breathwave Facilitator Training, held with the steady, grounded guidance of Robin Clements (a true Taurus embodiment), became a turning point for me.

Taurus, the slowest and most stabilizing fuel in the zodiac, offered the exact medicine my double Sagittarius fire needed. Robin didn’t just teach breath, he held space like the Earth itself.

That presence helped me downshift from running on adrenaline to anchoring into breath as my primary life source. Breath became the bridge between my old rhythm and the new one I’m building.

Your Breath, Your Blueprint

Now, through understanding your astrology natal chart and integrating both the light and shadow of your archetypes, we can re-regulate your nervous system through breath and rewire your mind using the concepts and patterns that astrology reveals.

This is where clarity, calm, and true alignment begins.

🫀 Tools That Supported This Shift

This journey wouldn’t have been possible without support from nature, breathwork, and the wise plant medicines crafted by people who truly care.

Deep gratitude to the herbalists whose work helped my body remember:@whichbetty @laurtheherbalist @bodymindsoulholistics

Their teas, tinctures, and healing potions aren’t just products. They’re rituals. They hold frequency.

✨ Inhale This

You don’t need to earn your rest.

You don’t need to explain your boundaries.

You don’t need to keep up with a system that was never built for your wellness.

If this resonates, if your body is whispering that it’s time for a new rhythm. you don’t have to find your way back alone.
